Our Profile

Alma and Melanie trained in Nutritional Therapy at the Raworth Centre in Dorking and are full members of the British Association of Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy.  Both work in many areas of nutrition and are busy with corporate workshops as well as running their own private practices.

Together they programme manage the Mole Valley Mend programme (www.mendprogramme.org) which works with obese youngsters and their families.  It is through this involvement that they have gained a particular interest in child nutrition out of which sprang their new venture ‘Tiny Tums Nutrition Workshops’.  These workshops, aimed at the under 5s, look at many aspects of early years nutrition and seek to empower parents to make healthy food choices for themselves and their children.

MEND - Fitter, healthier, happier families

MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition…Do it!) is a social enterprise dedicated to reducing global overweight and obesity levels.

We help children and their families become fitter, healthier and happier by offering free healthy living programmes in the local community.

Established in 2004, the MEND Programme was devised at the world-renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the University College London Institute of Child Health.

We work with local, regional and national partners to deliver over 400 MEND programmes across the world, which have benefitted over 15,000 families.

OUR NEXT MEND PROGRAMME

Mend is a free educational programme for families to tackle weight and healthy lifestyle issues with children age 7 13 years. This is a free course and our next programme is on the 19th January. The sessions run on Tuesday and Thursday from 4.30pm to 6.30pm and run in conjunction with the school term. Each course is 10 weeks and children must attend each session with a parent or guardian.

'TINY TUMS' Nutrition Workshops

Just like adults, young children need energy (calories) from food and nutrients such as protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals, to make sure their bodies work properly and can repair themselves.

Although toddlers can eat the same food as adults, before they're two years old children can't eat large amounts of food at one sitting. So, until then, give your child meals and snacks packed with calories and nutrients (nutrient dense foods)

  • Tips for your toddler
  • What should I give them?
  • How a toddler's diet is different
  • What to avoid
